Building a life you actually feel equipped to live.

Coping skills therapy for the moments that overwhelm you - and the habits that help you stay steady when life gets hard.

Coping isn't just about getting through the hard days. It's about building a life where you feel genuinely equipped to handle what comes your way - with less reactivity, more awareness, and real tools that work for you.

What coping is really about

Coping gets misunderstood. People often associate it with just "getting by" - white-knuckling through the difficult moments without falling apart. But healthy, effective coping is much more than survival.

Real coping skills are things like knowing what helps you regulate when you're overwhelmed - and being able to access those tools even under stress. Having language for your emotional experience instead of just feeling swamped by it. Recognizing the difference between reacting and responding, and being able to choose the latter more often than not.

Unhealthy coping strategies tend to work in the short term and cost us in the long: avoidance, numbing, overworking, isolating. These aren't character flaws - they're adaptations. Things that made sense at some point, that your nervous system learned. In therapy, we build better alternatives.

How we'll work together

Using CBT-based approaches, we'll build a toolkit that's genuinely yours - not a list of platitudes, but strategies that fit your specific life, your patterns, and your actual stressors. We'll work on identifying your triggers, understanding your automatic responses, and developing the kind of self-awareness that makes hard moments less destabilizing.

This work is practical. You'll leave sessions with things you can actually try. We'll refine them together over time - keeping what works and adjusting what doesn't. Real progress looks like a slow shift in how you move through the world, not a dramatic overnight change.

Coping skills work pairs well with other areas of focus - anxiety, depression, grief - so if you're dealing with more than one thing, we'll weave it all together.

My approach

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to help clients build practical, sustainable tools. Sessions are collaborative - you know your life better than I do. My job is to help you understand your patterns and develop strategies that actually hold up under real conditions.
